Thank You CREW Richmond

What a fantastic year 2018 has been for CREW Richmond! I have been honored to serve as your CREW President during this year of growth and opportunity. Our chapter grew to over 100 members! This is a true testament to our founding principles of inclusivity and a shared sense of hospitality. As we draw closer to the end of the year, it is worth taking a moment to highlight a few of the memorable achievements we all worked to accomplish.

The beginning of the year started off with a bang as we opened the door for affiliate and associate membership, increasing opportunities to broaden our reach and accept new and diverse aspects of involvement. We continued to foster the importance of broadening our reach by hosting UCREW and CREW Careers. Both events educate and inspire young women with the diverse fields of commercial real estate. Few chapters achieve both! We gave away a competitive scholarship to help pave the way for a woman in CRE. We had 17 women attend CREW Network in San Diego! And last, but not least, we hosted a successful and dynamic Leadership Summit, bringing an opportunity to enhance leadership practices to the local community and for both new and seasoned women in the CRE industry. Wow!!

The women of CREW Richmond are truly inspiring. Long ago on my leadership journey I was told that I should surround myself with people who have personalities and talents that I wish to emulate. CREW Richmond proved to be a wealth of like-minded women. I have heard many refer to our bond as a tribe. Certainly, an exceptional pseudonym for a diverse set of accomplished women who understand my values and make fostering relationships enjoyable. Women who take work, life, growth and leadership seriously. Women who emulate ‘hustle’ every day. I am lucky to be able to call many in my CREW tribe friends.

Becoming more involved on the CREW Board and ultimately taking the challenge to assume the presidency have been a highlight in my career. I look back and think it might not have been the best decision to make a job shift at the beginning of my Presidency. After 16 years at one great company, my identity was intertwined with it. Your support gave me the courage to take on a new chapter while assuming a leadership role in our organization. Our board and our membership embody the true meaning of transforming, advancement, and connection. I am inspired by you every day. As we support one another in our quest to assist women in CRE, we grow stronger together. We lift each other up with every singular accomplishment. I hope that as you think about 2019, you strongly consider increasing your involvement within our organization. It may be the courage you need to take that next step.

I am happy to leave 2018 knowing that our momentum as an organization is strong. Our commitment to each other is strong. Our growth together is stronger! I look forward to the future of CREW Richmond and cultivating my relationships with each and every one of you. This is certainly not good-bye but thank you. Thank you for electing me to “chief” this inspiring tribe of leaders.
