On August 15th, CREW Richmond welcomed Barry Matherly, President and CEO of the Greater Richmond Partnership, for a program entitled “Why Richmond, Why Now: A Regional Perspective”. The Greater Richmond Partnership is a public/private regional economic development organization that represents the City of Richmond and the surrounding counties of Chesterfield, Hanover, and Henrico. They serve as the single point of contact for domestic and international businesses looking to locate or expand in the greater Richmond region.
The greater Richmond region has seen growth in a number of areas, including corporate, industrial (especially food and beverage) and biotech. International investment in the Richmond region is increasing, mostly from European countries. Barry emphasized a particular niche in placing middle office for companies from much larger American cities, given the region’s excellent cost-of-living, location and amenities.
Barry encouraged CREW Richmond to join the Greater Richmond Partnership’s digital ambassadorship program, RVA Agents, by employing social networks to encourage others to explore the greater Richmond region.
