Thank you to everyone who came out to our Speed Networking luncheon in January! Attendees were able to network with other industry professionals and make new connections, and also practice their “elevator pitch” for future networking opportunities. Because of this event’s success, we hope to do another Speed Networking luncheon in the future!
For those who could not attend but would like to boost their networking skills, here are a few tips:
- Be helpful. Aside from growing your own network, consider who you might introduce others to that may help them reach their goals.
- Take the time to listen and ask open-ended questions. The more you get to know your new connection, the easier it will be to strengthen your relationship and continue the conversation after the event.
- Follow up. Take the time to send a quick note after the event mentioning how nice it was to meet them and provide any helpful follow up information.
- Quality over quantity. Instead of making it a goal to meet as many people as possible, try to focus on your conversations and get to know them on a professional level. Your network will grow organically from attending networking opportunities, and getting to know each contact will also allow for great conversation when you see them at the next event!
